Does Memoth join calls like a bot the way Fireflies does?
No. Memoth on macOS records the call audio locally on your machine, so nothing shows up in the participant list and nobody gets a notification that a bot has arrived. It works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and FaceTime, and it also records in-person conversations where a bot could never be invited at all. To be fair to Fireflies: their default is the Fireflies Notetaker, which does join the meeting as a participant, but their desktop app also offers a bot-free mode that captures system audio instead. In that mode Fireflies shows generic speaker labels rather than participant names and does not save an audio or video file.
Can I switch from Fireflies without losing my old transcripts?
You can keep them, but the move is manual — there is no automatic account importer between the two products. Export the transcripts and audio you want to keep from Fireflies before you cancel your plan. Audio files can then be brought into Memoth through the iOS share extension or audio import, and Memoth will produce a fresh transcript, summary, and action items so the old conversations are searchable next to the new ones.
Is Memoth cheaper than Fireflies?

Does Memoth integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot?
No. Memoth does not push notes into a CRM. Action items can sync to Apple Reminders on paid plans, and transcripts and summaries can be exported or shared, but if automatic CRM logging of every sales call is a hard requirement for your team, Fireflies is built for that workflow and Memoth is not. Memoth is aimed at solo professionals who want the notes themselves rather than a pipeline integration.
Can Memoth capture conversations that are not scheduled calls?
Yes, and it is the main reason people try it. Memoth records on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, so in-person client meetings, phone calls on speaker, lectures, appointments, and ideas captured on a walk all get the same transcript, summary, and action items. You can also forward a WhatsApp voice message to the Memoth bot and get a transcript back in the chat. Fireflies covers some of this too — its mobile apps record in-person conversations — so the honest difference is the Apple Watch, the WhatsApp bot, and the fact that everything lands in a library on your own devices instead of a workspace.
Is Memoth on-device? Where does my audio actually go?
Memoth does not transcribe on your device, and we would rather say so plainly. When you finish a recording the audio is uploaded to Memoth's pipeline and sent to a speech-to-text provider (AssemblyAI). That audio is then kept for 30 days as an encrypted backup — AES-256 at rest, never publicly accessible — so a recording lost from your device can still be restored, and after 30 days that audio is deleted automatically. The transcript itself is kept for as long as you keep the recording, so it can be restored without re-processing your audio — and because that record is what lets us erase the provider's copy when you ask. Delete a recording from inside the app at any time and both are erased from our servers immediately. What Memoth does not keep is your library: the recording, transcript, summary, and action items live on your device and sync through your own private iCloud account rather than a Memoth-hosted workspace.
